Sustainability and Environment Policy

It makes sense to reduce waste and recycle more. We want to play our part in protecting our planet, but we also know it’s good business logic. Our environmental policies work because we use fewer resources which equals less waste. As a result, we are able to keep our prices competitive and consistently improve our efficiency.

A snapshot of what we are doing

We work relentlessly to review our processes and introduce ways to improve on what we print, how we print it and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum.

  • We use renewable source electricity

  • We recycle the majority of our waste streams

  • Our house paper is a quality sheet which is FSC®certified, chlorine free & recyclable

  • We only purchase paper from responsible suppliers who are also striving towards a balanced carbon footprint with FSC® and PEFCTM products.

  • We use vegetable oil based inks in our digital printing and eco solvent inks in our large machines

  • We conserve water

  • We help our customers to reduce the carbon impacts of their marketing communications and help them meet their carbon reduction objectives

  • Sharing knowledge and understanding of print related environmental or ‘Green’ terminology

  • We work to continually reduce our landfill waste

  • Constantly monitor our energy consumption using Nest®

  • All Journeys are carefully planned for efficiency

  • We encourage the cycle to work scheme and provide bicycle parking facilities

And that’s not all…

We are proud of how we organise our waste and consumption of resources and ensure whatever cannot be recycled is either reused, recovered or disposed of responsibly.

Examples of our innovative recycling streams are:

  • As part of the Ricoh recycling scheme, our ink & toner cartridges are collected and sent back to Ricoh to be recycled

  • New paper pack wrapping and paper off cuts from the finishing process are re-used in our despatch packaging process

  • Cardboard boxes are re-used if undamaged for sending out finished print to customers

  • Any plastic bubblewrap or airflow packaging bags received are re-used when sending out finished print to customers

  • Large format machine cardboard cores are cut down and re-used for label printing cores or mailing tubes

  • All rags used in our printing and mounting processes are washed and re-used, we no longer use paper towels

  • Where possible we encourage car sharing for employees who live in the same areas, where we relax time keeping

  • We support working from home when possible

  • Where possible our IT and mobile phones are Apple products (Apple are pushing towards the goal of carbon neutral by using all recycled earth elements) we recycle our IT and mobile phones

  • We have an in-house ‘no print’ policy for documents received

  • Where possible we have opted for paperless communications for our business activities
